Envision Names Jing Xu Next Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Low Vision  

Envision announced today that it has awarded a new fellowship for postdoctoral research studies involving low vision and blind rehabilitation to Jing Xu, who will explore how to help adults with vision loss continue to drive safely. Beginning in July, her research will be based out of the Gigi and Carl Allen Envision Research Institute (ERI) and sponsored by Bosma Enterprises.

Garrett Swan Receives 11th Annual Envision-Atwell Award for Low Vision Research

At a May 1 gathering of the Low Vision Research Group held during the 2019 Annual Meeting of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), Garrett Swan, a post-doctoral research fellow at the Schepens Eye Research Institute of Massachusetts Eye and Ear in Boston, received the 11th annual Envision-Atwell Award for outstanding efforts in low vision research.

AFB Applauds Senate Introduction of the Access Technology Affordability Act

On behalf of the American Foundation for the Blind, we applaud Senators John Boozman and Ben Cardin for their introduction of the Access Technology Affordability Act, which would create a refundable tax credit of $2,000 to offset the costs of accessible technologies designed for people who are blind or visually impaired.

IAAP Announces Certification Testing Exam Sites at Upcoming Accessibility Conferences

The International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP) announced the addition of several hosted exam sites in conjunction with accessibility conferences and events. IAAP offers the Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) or Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) credentials.
