Available Scholarships
The Lulu J. Alonso Scholarship Fund supports three scholarship tiers to support postsecondary education for blind students; renewable annually.
- Community College - $8,000
- Undergraduate - $20,000
- Graduate - $28,000
Scholar Expectations
AFB’s goal is to cultivate future blind leaders. During the academic year, AFB Scholars will be required to:
- Maintain a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA
- Participate in mentorship activities with AFB Leaders
- Participate in One Approved Annual Conference with Staff

- Notification of Shortlist: March 31 - April 9, 2025
- Interviews: April 10 - 25, 2025
- Final Award Announcements: May 5 - 16, 2025

AFB-Sponsored Scholarships in Partnership with ACB
AFB is also excited to provide financial support each year to students who are blind in partnership with the American Council of the Blind (ACB).
