Personal computers have revolutionized our society increasing the amount of information we can access and the speed with which we can acquire it. Unfortunately, we are still learning how to take advantage of the flexibility with which computers allow us to present that information. If the information on the computer screen is too small for someone with a visual impairment to read, all of the benefits of digital technology are lost.
Screen magnifiers, or computer software packages that allow visually impaired users to increase the size of text, among other features, to improve visibility, have put the full range of computing power into the hands of people with vision loss. AFB TECH monitors developments on this front closely, while conducting research to push this developing technology forward.
