Source: American Community Survey single-year data, U.S. Census Bureau. The following are estimates which were calculated based on weighted survey samples.

Year:

Hawaii has a relatively small population and an even smaller population of people with visual impairments. Where a value of "0" or no value is reported in the tables below, this does not necessarily indicate that there are no people in this category. Rather, the population is too small to yield a meaningful estimate based on the survey sample.

Definition and scope: The term vision difficulty refers to individuals who reported they have serious difficulty seeing even when wearing glasses or contact lenses, as well as those who are blind or unable to see at all.

Data source: 2008-2019 American Community Survey 1-Year Estimates.

Comparing American Community Survey 1-year data with other data: Generally, American Community Survey (ACS) 1-year estimates can be compared with other ACS 1-year data. However, since ACS variables change over time, some areas and subjects must be compared with caution, or not compared at all. In this instance, the 2008-2019 ACS 1-year estimates are comparable because the vision loss variable was written the same in the 2008-2019 ACS instruments.
