Episode Notes
Welcome to another episode of AccessWorld, a podcast on digital inclusion and accessibility. The AccessWorld podcast is a production of the American Foundation for the Blind.
In this episode, your hosts Aaron and Tony welcome former AccessWorld editor Lee Huffman. Lee is now with the American Printing House for the Blind (APH). February is Low-Vision awareness Month, and Aaron and Tony get a deep download on all things low-vision from Lee, who shares his experience growing up with stargardts disease, a condition that replicates a common progressive visual impairment in older adults that occurs in early childhood.
Lee breaks down the many challenges people with low-vision face, and discusses the importance of finding a good low-vision specialist who can help identify assistive technology solutions. Then, Aaron, Tony, and Lee chat about the diverse experiences people with low-vision encounter and how one-size doesn’t fit all in regards to finding accessible solutions, particularly when it comes to digital inclusion.
