AFB’s Digital Accessibility Work Study program offers an extended internship opportunity to students who successfully completed the Digital Accessibility Bootcamp and seek to not only deepen their technical accessibility knowledge but also gain experience in applying standards and practices to real-world scenarios.

What to Expect

AFB’s Digital Accessibility Work Study provides students the opportunity to participate in hands-on learning, build practical experience, and interact with potential employers. Participants are expected to engage fully in all aspects of the program, including foundational coursework, independent and team-oriented projects, and meetings with program mentors and guest speakers.

Participants in the Digital Accessibility Work Study program will be onboarded as part-time AFB employees, which provides the following benefits:

  • Competitive Compensation: Receive an hourly compensation of $18 as you continue to develop your skills and contribute to meaningful projects.
  • Flexible Work Environment: Balance your studies by tailoring your schedule through remote work, allowing you to thrive with both your academic and career development pursuits.

Commitments:

  1. Dedicate approximately 10-15 hours per week (Mon.-Fri.) during the Fall and Spring academic semesters.
  2. Access to a reliable internet connection and a computer for a seamless remote learning experience.
  3. Adherence to AFB’s employment policies and ethical standards.

Work Study Selection Criteria

AFB’s Digital Accessibility Work Study participants are selected through an application process. To be eligible to apply, applicants must:

  • Successfully complete all requirements within AFB’s Digital Accessibility Bootcamp
  • Be enrolled in college full time, or other higher education program
  • Be studying computer science, or a related field, with a minimum 3.0 GPA

Note: The Work Study program is a highly competitive experience with limited seats available. Priority will be given to applicants residing in the following geographic areas: DC Metro (VA/MD/DC); WV area (WV/KY); NY Metro (NY/NJ); Pennsylvania; Florida.
