Michael (Mike) May, blind since age 3, is an athlete, an entrepreneur, and a pioneer in the development of way-finding technology. The founder and CEO of the Sendero Group, which produces accessible GPS solutions for people who are blind or visually impaired, May also holds the downhill speed skiing record for a person who is totally blind, racing at 65 miles per hour.
May underwent a rare stem cell transplant in 2000 and became one of a handful of documented cases of partial vision restoration. His story was recently told in the book Crashing Through, by Robert Kurson.
