Miss Helen Keller,

Forest Hills, New York.

My dear Miss Keller:

I am very grateful to you for just about the nicest letter I have had since Election Day. I appreciate all that you say and I hope some day this winter that I may tell you so in person.

I fell somewhat guilty about the Thanksgiving Day Proclamation because I really took practically all of it from the Book of Common Prayer--a particular prayer which I have always been fond of. But it does seem to express one's thoughts about Thanksgiving Day and this particular year I am confident that more people than usual have been turning their thoughts towards higher standards and more unselfish service.

Very sincerely yours,

Franklin D. Roosevelt
