NEW YORK (June 10, 2015)—The American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) today announced its official call for nominations for the 2016 Access Awards, which honor individuals, corporations and organizations that eliminate or substantially reduce inequities faced by people who are blind or visually impaired.
Nominations for the AFB Access Awards should illustrate an exceptional and innovative effort that has improved the lives of people with vision loss by enhancing access to information, the environment, technology, education or employment, including making mainstream products and services accessible. The effort should be one that has national or international impact or can serve as a model for replication on a national or international level.
Nominations addressing the above criteria should be submitted on-line by September 15, 2015.
Instructions for submitting product brochures, patent applications, and other materials including letters of support substantiating the nomination in an accessible electronic format can be found on the nomination page above. Materials that do not lend themselves to electronic submission can be sent by standard mail to Neva Fairchild, 11030 Ables Lane, Dallas, TX 75229. Please note, materials submitted cannot be returned.
The awards will be presented on March 4, 2016, at the AFB Leadership Conference in Arlington, VA.
